A panting Pouncival rushed to the door of his first period class. World history with Jellylorum. He was only about five minutes late, so Jelly offered him a small smile and gestured for him to take his seat. Pounce nodded and wandered to an empty desk along the right sideline, right in front of Victoria, who glared at the back of his head. Victoria looked to her left, where Jemima was holding back a giggle. Though she was Vicki's best friend, she loved watching her get put in her place. Vicki was beautiful, and she knew it, so she had incredibly high self esteem. Jemima hated this, and loved watching things go out-of-place just to see her best friend squirm.
Over in Asparagus' algebra class, Etcetera was trying her hardest not to yawn. She propped her elbow on her desk, tilting her head to the right to rest it on her paw. She saw Asparagus making his rounds through the classroom from the corner of her eye, checking everyone's progress. She quickly returned to her barely-filled-in worksheet before Asparagus caught her not paying attention. She couldn't afford to get in trouble so soon.
Electra smiled to herself and she unfolded a crumpled piece of notebook paper that had been tossed on her desk. She and Mistoffelees, who was a few desks away from her, had been exchanging notes for conversation since class started. It had started off with the basics:
"what's your name?
mine's Misto"
"Electra"
But that didn't last long.
"beautiful. I saw you in the hall earlier right?"
"Yep. That was me"
"you didn't seem too interested in the great Tugger"
"Haha. I'm not. He's WAY too full of himself"
Misto had smirked to himself at that last one. It was nice to know Rum Tum Tugger didn't have every queen wrapped around his finger.
"that he is. we should talk more often"
"We should. Meet in the hall after class?"
"sounds good"
They left it at that. Jennyanydots had been raising eyebrows at the two of them for some time, but hadn't said anything. They were both somewhat in the middle of the class, so it wasn't completely easy to get caught. But they couldn't risk it. Besides, they only had a good ten minutes of class left anyway.
Gus stumbled over words here and there as he welcomed the Freshmen to Physical Science. Another great thing about the Jellicle Learning Center - cats were placed in classes by where their minds were with each subject, not by their age.
Tumblebrutus stared in awe at the various beakers and fluids that he would get to work with. Tumble loved to create things, especially when they blew up. He was the only one in the room that was listening to poor Gus. Then again, there were only ten cats in the class, including Tumble. The Learning Center could only take in so many students, and because of the way they were arranged, there weren't very many cats in one class. Twenty at most, five at the least.
Electra lingered outside the classroom door, waiting for Misto to come out. Her eyes lit up once she saw him heading for the door.
"You're a very interesting girl." Misto said. Electra looked to the floor to hide a blush.
"What's your next class?" Misto asked.
"Pre-algebra with Asparagus." Electra replied?
Misto's face lit up. "You have pre-algebra too?"
Electra nodded. "Yep. I was never too good with numbers." Misto nodded in agreement and offered to walk Electra to the class. She accepted with a shy smile and and a contented sigh.
By the time second period began, every Freshman had their own view of the school.
